Playtech buys out Virtue Fusion

Online casino and poker operator, Playtech, buys out Virtue Fusion, one of the top online bingo software suppliers for a sum of up to 36 million. The move from Playtech is a bid to strengthen their position in the international online bingo markets which has seen many new online bingo sites coming to us over recent weeks. There is no denying that there is boom with new online bingo sites at the moment which indicates a very lucrative business, but is seems that everyone wants a slice of the cake, which poses the question, how will it end?
Virtue Fusion has in excess of 20 licensees which include well know bingo sites such as William Hill Bingo, Paddy Power Bingo and Ladbrokes Bingo, to name just a few. This latest move by Playtech will undoubtedly see more online bingo sites being launched on the international market. However, this has been the third major deal by Virtue Fusion in two months and one can’t help but wonder why such a lucrative company would want to sell out.
Online bingo sites are one of the fastest growing arms of the online gaming market and what is considered a very traditional game. The UK in particular has a very strong market in respect of the use of online bingo sites.
With the decision by Partygaming to launch the new Foxy Bingo site in Sweden on the Virtue Fusion software, along with their buyout of Cashcade, we could see other bingo sites under their ownership also switch to Virtue Fusion. Also there was the move by 888 which saw them take over one of the UK’s top bingo sites, Wink Bingo. All Considered, there will inevitably be many changes to online bingo sites in the future, whether these changes will be welcomed by people who play bingo, remains to be seen.
