Jackpotjoy has wrist slapped by ASA

Jackpot Joy

We are fully aware that with so many new online bingo sites hitting the market this year, many of them are now hitting us hard and fast with advertising campaigns in a bid to convince us that they are the best one to play at. Jackpotjoy has its wrist slapped by ASA after one of their recent promotional pushes was deemed to be misleading but this was not in the form of a TV advert. In fact it was a promotional email that Jackpotjoy had sent to their players.

The email from Jackpotjoy was headed, ‘find out why we are Britain’s best value night in’ and was pushing the refer a friend offer that this bingo site was running. The promotional email implied that the new player would get a 100% cash match on their first deposit and both the new player and the player that had referred them to Jackpotjoy would both get a further £10 bonus once the first deposit had been wagered on the site.

Unfortunately, Jackpotjoy failed to make the terms of this offer clear to all players and it became evident that only some games contributed to the wagering requirements for the first deposit and some of those that did contribute, did so in only a small way. As a result, the spend required by players in order to receive the extra £10 bonus from Jackpotjoy was higher than originally anticipated. This meant that bingo players, who believed that they had made the necessary wagering requirement, in fact had not done so and did not receive the £10 bonus which prompted a complaint to ASA.

As a result, ASA have ruled that Jackpotjoy should no longer offer this bingo promotion either by email or any kind of advertising, in its current form.

As always, we would advise every player to take the time to visit the bingo sites that they play bingo at to check the terms of any offer or promotion that they wish to take part in.
