Buckingham Bingo hall closes
14th April 2010 9:35 AM

There was a period last year when we were hearing of land based bingo halls closing every week but it seemed recently that maybe bingo halls had found a winning formula to build up the revenue that they produce. With no news of major closures coming our way for some time, people may have been cautiously optimistic that this was the case. However, news today that a Buckingham Bingo hall closes in Didsbury, may indicate that is not quite so.
Those of you who use online bingo sites may be aware of the internet site belonging to Buckingham Bingo called Bucky Bingo. Such online bingo sites, along with the smoking ban have long been blamed for the financial hardship and many closures of ailing bingo halls and with more and more internet bingo sites opening, there does not to seem to be any let up in the competition between online bingo sites and land based halls.
This latest Buckingham Bingo hall closure leaves the company with just 11 land based bingo sites. However Buckingham Bingo claim that some of these remaining halls are still performing very well as is their online bingo site, Bucky Bingo. It is clear that more restructuring of the business will be required by the company if their land based bingo halls are going to have a long term future in what is a very competitive market. Of course as bingo players we would hope to see success in this department as land based bingo is still very much a tradition.
The good news is that Buckingham Bingo may now see some of those regular members of the former hall who have access to the internet play bingo online at Bucky Bingo. Bingo players can be fiercely loyal when it comes to the game which may bring a welcome boost to Bucky Bingo.
