888 are to buy out Wink Bingo

Wink Bingo

Back in November we heard the news that You Got Bingo who operated bingo sites such as Churchill Bingo and Bulldog Bingo, had closed its virtual doors. Rumours have been rife that this was due to a takeover bid and software issues, which today has not yet been confirmed but it seems that this is all part of the business even with internet bingo sites, as the news comes to us to us that 888 are to buy out Wink Bingo, one of the most popular online bingo sites in the industry, for a sum of around £60 million.

Daub Ltd, who operate the bingo sites Wink Bingo, Posh Bingo and Bingo Fabulous, use the 888 Dragonfish software to power its bingo sites and the fact that they have boasted more than 60,000 active players in October of this year, merely confirms its status as one the top UK bingo sites to date.

Launched in early 2008, Wink Bingo has produced revenues of more than £15 million and the pre tax figures for this year are looking good, standing at £1.3 million up to the end of November.

You may wonder why such a successful site as Wink Bingo could be subjected to a takeover bid. Well, it is no secret that internet bingo is very lucrative in the UK and it seems that companies who have the capital to make an attractive offer will always be considered. Bingo after all is still a business just as any other and with 888 keen to expand its footprint into the UK market and obtain more bingo sites Wink Bingo along with the other bingo sites operated by Wink must almost certainly be a safe option for them.

There are still negotiations and fine details to iron out before the deal can be completed, but this could be an exciting time for those of you who play bingo at Wink Bingo.
